При чтении английской литературы я встертил странное употребления предлога "For". Обычно он используется для связи глагола с объектом между глаголом и объектом, или в конце предложения (в вопросах). Но вот примеры, где я не понимаю его значение:

In the study of logic, we do not so much look at these kinds of reasoning: instead, logic concerns itself with reasons for believing something instead of something else. For beliefs are special.
